About Consumer Rights

CEO Message
The retail sector contributes 40% to Dubai's GDP. CCCP has been charged with the responsibility to ensure that the retail sector continues to grow and remains transparent and regulated.
Be Right know your consumer rights
The Dubai economy has experienced enormous growth over recent years and contributing to this has been a vibrant retail and trade sector. With a contribution of almost 40% to GDP, the retail sector in Dubai has much to be proud of.

The Dubai government has a goal to position the Emirate as one of the best shopping destinations in the world and supporting this is the Department of Economic Development (DED).

The Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection (CCCP) sector of DED has been charged with the responsibility to ensure that the retail sector continues to grow and remains transparent and regulated as it grows.

DED is the only government department in Dubai dedicated to raising awareness of consumers' and retailers' rights and responsibilities and through CCCP, DED also deals with any relevant disputes.

The ´Be Right  Know Your Consumer Rights´ is our campaign to raise awareness of the Federal Law (24) of 2006 on Consumer Protection. The law has paved the way for consumers and retailers alike to operate within a framework which will benefit both groups as it has clear guidelines on the rights and responsibilities of retailers as well as consumers . In case of any issues that may arise following the purchase of products or services, the Consumer Protection law will also provide much needed clarity on how these will be resolved.

CCCP also brings out a ‘Blue Book’ on laws governing relations between retailers and customers across key business sectors. An essential guide to consumer rights and customer relations in the retail sector, the Blue Book regulates purchases and related invoices, warranties, policies on exchange and refund as well as repairs.

I would like to reinforce that it is our intention to support both retailers and consumers and offer solutions as directed by the Federal Law when a mutual decision between retailers and consumers cannot be reached.
I hope the information presented on this website will be of great benefit to you and reassure you that you can shop with confidence right here in Dubai.
